Quick healing of a deep cut
I wish to acknowledge and document the quick healing I had when I cut my finger severely and rang a fellow Christian Scientist for help.
About five years ago, I was using a very sharp knife when it slipped and sliced through the tip of my index finger. It was very painful, and the finger started bleeding profusely. I immediately prayed with “the scientific statement of being” from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (Mary Baker Eddy, p. 468), which begins, “There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter.” This helped me stay calm despite the wound’s appearance and pain.
I prayed as I had been taught in Christian Science, affirming the truth of man’s spiritual identity as the creation of Spirit, God, but I still felt anxious. I found it difficult to uplift my thoughts beyond the sight of the blood-soaked bandaging, so I called a fellow Christian Scientist to pray with me. The practitioner took my case immediately and told me to think of being wrapped in the garment of Christ, which is “without seam or rent” (Science and Health, p. 242).
