Healed of herniated disc symptoms
Originally published in Portuguese
I was making my bed one morning a year or two ago when I leaned forward and felt a strong pull on my spine. The pain was so severe that I was left crouching on the floor unable to get up.
My husband rushed in. When he saw me, he immediately started praying as he came over and comforted me with these words from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good” (p. 393). With this thought and his support, I managed to get up, but I was still bent over. Although I was afraid, I knew that, in actuality, I am spiritual, not material, and therefore not subject to pain. I knew that God was sustaining me.
My husband laid me down, but the pain would not go away. He continued to pray and reassured me with this familiar Bible verse about dwelling in God: “In him we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28). This helped me see that I am always leaning on God.
