Asking for help yields healing results
One afternoon several winter s ago, I was experiencing flu symptoms, so I dropped everything I was doing and began praying for myself. What guided my prayer was that week’s Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, appropriately titled “God the Only Cause and Creator.” One of the truths in this lesson that I held on to throughout the rest of the day was from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “There is but one primal cause. Therefore there can be no effect from any other cause, and there can be no reality in aught which does not proceed from this great and only cause” (p. 207).
In the morning there was improvement, but the problem lingered for a couple more days. At that point, I realized it was time for me to be obedient to the following counsel from Science and Health: “If students do not readily heal themselves, they should early call an experienced Christian Scientist to aid them” (p. 420).
A Christian Science practitioner agreed to pray for me that day, and right before heading to bed I sensed slightly more freedom of activity and uplift in thought. With more metaphysical support from him the next day, I continued to improve until I had 100 percent strength and was free of all the symptoms.
