Stillness brings healing and inspiration
Before I knew anything of Christian Science, nervous energy seemed to be part of my life. For some time after experiencing a fever and frightening visions, I had extreme anxiety.
It was during this time that a dear friend introduced me to the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and I began to read and study it along with the Bible. Healings and other positive life changes began to happen immediately, but I still feared that the fever might return. One night it came back. This time, however, as I lay in bed, two ideas began to gently occupy my thinking: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10) and, “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39).
I felt the peace, the quietness, and the gentle presence of God all around me. Feeling calm and safe, I fell asleep. When I awoke in the morning, I was completely well, and neither the fever nor the fear of it has returned.
