Letters & Conversations

> Katelyn Wigmore, “Giving up the gossip habit,” Sentinel, July 10, 2023

Thank you for this article. It can seem easy to allow our thought and conversation to slip into critical and unconstructive views about others, particularly public figures. The degeneration of current public and social media discourse into uninformed or misinformed tribalism underlines how vital it is that we reverse this tendency, starting with our own thought. Asking “Is my conversation about this person going to help me love them better?” is an effective way of stopping ourselves from boarding a passing bandwagon of destructive chatter. Then we can give prayerful treatment to the matter—in other words, do something useful about it!

This is a lovely testimony, a shining example of God’s infinite care.
