Stolen funds recovered
Our small business had a couple of banking challenges recently that taught me the importance of seeing man as made by God and therefore innately pure, honest, competent, and caring. We had issued a large check to pay a vendor from whom we had purchased electronic parts. Someone stole the check, then manufactured two counterfeit checks for the same amount and cashed them. On top of that loss of such a large sum from our account, we still had to pay the vendor for the purchase we had made.
When we worked with the bank’s fraud department and our local business banker, we were sent packages of forms and more forms and given conflicting instructions from various bank contacts. That led to days of labor, frustration, and agitation for four of us in our office, and a few sleepless nights for me.
In her book Unity of Good, Mary Baker Eddy writes: “Jesus taught us to walk over, not into or with, the currents of matter, or mortal mind. . . . He annulled the laws of matter, showing them to be laws of mortal mind, not of God. . . . He demanded a change of consciousness and evidence, and effected this change through the higher laws of God. . . . but neither red tape nor indignity hindered the divine process” (p. 11).
