Walking without pain
In the spring of 2021, as I returned from a strenuous walk in some wooded hills near my home, I rejoiced. Not only was it a glorious morning, but my walk had been entirely pain-free.
A few months previously I had been having difficulty walking without pain. The problem seemed to be in my hip, and the symptoms were similar to those of friends and acquaintances who had had hips replaced.
One morning I experienced a particularly sharp pain in my hip. However, based on my study of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, I was inspired not to accept what the physical senses were telling me. The Bible tells us that we are made in the image and likeness of God, divine Spirit, and therefore are spiritual, not made of matter or fleshly elements. Christ Jesus demonstrated this fact by healing the sick. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mrs. Eddy writes of such healing: “The Christian Scientist, understanding scientifically that all is Mind, commences with mental causation, the truth of being, to destroy the error. This corrective is an alterative, reaching to every part of the human system. According to Scripture, it searches ‘the joints and marrow,’ and it restores the harmony of man” (p. 423).
