Burned hand quickly healed
One day, I had prepared the evening meal and was removing a casserole from the oven, using only one oven pad. I found I couldn’t balance the dish with just one hand and, without thinking, grabbed the side of the dish with my other hand without an oven pad.
The fingers and thumb of that hand were painfully burned. As I walked from the kitchen, these words from that week’s Bible Lesson (found in the Christian Science Quarterly) filled my thought: “Hear me, O Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good” (Psalms 69:16). Other spiritual ideas also came to thought, such as: I will put my trust in God; I am spiritual right now; a spiritual idea cannot experience a burn or anything related to a burn, such as blisters; God is right here and available now.
In a few minutes, I returned to the kitchen to serve dinner, primarily using the unaffected hand. I knew that I am God’s immortal, spiritual creation, so the belief that I am a mortal and subject to a burn was not true. A consciousness filled with affirmations of the laws of God has no room for false beliefs of any kind. God is more powerful than any problem.
