Deadlocked situation resolved
I would like to express gratitude for Christian Science regarding the blessing of a situation that seemed hopeless.
A couple of years ago a man called me to say that he had never received the title to a truck my company had sold him in 2005, that he was going to be charged a hefty fine if he did not get the truck off a city lot, and that he needed the title to have it towed. (The 1979 truck, which he’d bought for parts only, was now undrivable.)
I called the county title bureau, but there were no records showing that my company had owned the truck. I was told that old records had been purged and there was nothing I could do because the title could not be issued without proof of ownership, the vehicle identification number (VIN), and the last mileage reading. I found an appraisal inventory sheet with the VIN and mileage, but the title bureau told me the VIN was too short, as it was only eleven numbers and needed to be seventeen numbers. No VIN could be found on the now-very-rusted truck.
