Whole again after fall from horse

Recently, I acquired a young pony of a breed unfamiliar to me and sent him to a professional trainer to be ridden for the first time. He did very well in training, and I rode him there several times.

Over a long weekend, the trainer was away and had encouraged me to take the pony home for a few days. Borrowing what I thought was the proper-fitting saddle, I eagerly set out to ride him at home. But before I could even get settled into position, the saddle apparently pinched him, and he went into a bucking fit. I was violently thrown to the ground.

Immediately, I reached out to God in prayer, and remembered this from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection” (p. 424). As I lay in the grass in pain, I also recalled this statement explaining how to respond to an accident: “Declare that you are not hurt and understand the reason why, and you will find the ensuing good effects to be in exact proportion to your disbelief in physics, and your fidelity to divine metaphysics, confidence in God as All, which the Scriptures declare Him to be” (Science and Health, p. 397).
