Able to rest in God’s hands
You know the hymn “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” (Christian Science Hymnal: Hymns 430–603, No. 492)? That’s what came to me one morning as I opened my thought to God. As I was brushing my teeth, I asked Him, “What do I need to know today?” I couldn’t believe it when that song popped into mind. “Really? That repetitive old song?” I thought. “Surely that can’t be the message God has for me today.”
But when it kept coming, I decided I needed to give it my attention. It wasn’t long before I realized I had a litany of concerns I’d been stressed about and that I could substitute each situation or person that was troubling me for the words “the whole world.”
I felt a big weight lift from me as I saw that I could leave all those concerns with God, knowing that we’re all God’s ideas and that He takes perfect care of each idea in His creation. We’re all in His hands. I turned to that song several times throughout the day and found I could let go and let God hold the reins.
