Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?

You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills, the trees of the field—all the world around you—will rejoice.

—The Living Bible

God’s promises in this text reverse the ancient curse on the soil (see Genesis 3:17) and portray His blessing on all creation. Nature metaphors often appear in the book of Isaiah to convey universal gladness and praise (see another instance in 44:23). In many of them, the joy of the natural world represents Israel’s response to its deliverance from Babylonia.
