Leanings
Each step we take
demands of us a choice:
to place our weight
on Spirit
or on matter,
on good
or on evil,
on Truth
or on falsehood.
At the tipping point of faith,
we lean
on substance
or on vapid seeming,
on reality
or on theory.
Leaning lends our trust
to one side or the other—
adding credence to a lie
or finding blessings in Truth,
placing our hope in man
or relying securely on God.
How vital, then,
to choose
to lean
wholeheartedly
on God.
