Healed of coronavirus
I wish to express gratitude for the many avenues we have for prayerful help in Christian Science. About a year ago, I felt overwhelming fatigue, dizziness, and weakness. Although this caused some fear, as a lifelong Christian Scientist, I knew I could turn to God for help and healing.
I began reading some of my favorite Bible passages. Psalm 91 offered great inspiration and hope. I accepted it as God’s promise to me of His healing presence—of His help and deliverance. Isaiah 41:10 instructed me not to fear, as God was with me. In Isaiah 40:28–31, I read that God was never weary or faint, and could never lose His strength, and this encouraged me to expect the same for myself as His beloved child.
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, answers the question “What is man?” with profound statements of truth, such as “Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique. He is . . . that which has not a single quality underived from Deity; . . .” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 475). Her full answer to this question brought much healing to my thought.
Because I care for my three great-grandchildren, and not all of my family members are Christian Scientists, I was tested for COVID-19 a few days after these symptoms appeared, and the test came back positive.
I contacted a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray for me. He assured me that I could not be deprived of all that God had already given me—such as life, health, joy, peace, goodness, and strength—and that God’s provision for me was permanent. I saw that nothing in the world could remove God’s goodness. A dear friend who is a Christian Scientist also reminded me that I could have and be only what God had planned for me to have and be. I was so grateful for all of these reassuring truths. This same friend began sending me relevant articles from The Christian Science Journal and the Sentinel. Every day, I eagerly looked forward to the healing ideas I knew I would find in these beautiful articles, as well as in the Bible and Science and Health.
Within the first few days of my reliance on God for this healing, I was completely free from all the symptoms. I had been obedient to the laws of my state relative to quarantine, and those days had been filled with learning more of the truth of God’s healing presence and witnessing the fulfillment of His promises to heal, deliver, and show us His salvation.
I am so grateful to my family and friends for their loving support during this period, to Mrs. Eddy for giving us this beautiful way of life, to Christ Jesus for his teachings and for showing us the way, and to our heavenly Father, who loves and cares for us always.
