The power of God’s presence

Something powerful happens when we feel the divine presence. Glimpsing the actuality of God as all-encompassing Spirit, we experience more of the presence of our own genuine, spiritual nature. Being present with God and with our spiritual individuality gives us confidence to be Christian healers.

Yet, most of us have had to deal with moments when feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt, even when there has been prior or clear success, have tried to derail our healing practice. There’s a tendency to assess healing ability from the standpoint of human perfectionism, an impossible standard that, if accepted, makes people feel like a “fraud”—what is often referred to these days as “imposter syndrome.” It makes people feel unworthy of healing—that they don’t deserve what they most want (health, love, peace, contentment, etc.) or that “everyone else seems to have it all together, and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.”

The experience and encouragement of Christ Jesus offer a very different view. Rather than counting on his own abilities, Jesus healed through the power of the Christ—his spiritual selfhood, at one with God, Spirit. And the Christ-power that gave him strength gives us strength, too. This Christ is not dependent on human methods or skill; it is the activity of Spirit, compelling in us a spiritual view of ourselves and others, where divine perfection and goodness shine through.
