No more flu
When I was in college, I came down with the flu each year—until one year, when I began to experience the familiar symptoms again and decided not to yield to the false belief in contagion. Instead, I prayerfully refuted the mental suggestions of illness by affirming that, in reality, we live in a spiritual universe of God’s presence, governed by the laws of divine Love. I reasoned that an invading virus is impossible in the infinitude of God, good.
The Bible tells us, “Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling” (Psalms 91:9, 10).
I had learned in my study of Christian Science that the divine Mind, which is God, is always communicating its pristine thoughts to man, imparting the truth of our inviolable joy, freedom, health, and security. Dwelling with these divine thoughts, we understand that we are safe in “the secret place of the most High” referred to in the first verse of Psalm 91. How could we be anywhere else, when God is omnipresent?
