Prayer routs flu symptoms
One morning a few months ago, I awoke not feeling like myself, with symptoms that were flu-like. I was able to function, but it was a tough slog because the physical discomfort was distracting. At some point, I felt a need to stop and pray, and it was uplifting to recall testimonies I’d read and heard that showed the efficacy of Christian Science in overcoming this problem.
When I was tempted to wonder about the cause of the symptoms, the thought came that in reality there is only one cause—God. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy states: “There is but one primal cause. Therefore there can be no effect from any other cause, and there can be no reality in aught which does not proceed from this great and only cause” (p. 207). That meant that all I could ever experience had its source in God, good.
I stopped pushing to get through the day, and instead listened for healing ideas from the Christ, divine Truth. The symptoms began to lift almost immediately. As I continued praying, whatever I did that morning was done with a sense that God was causing only good, and within a few hours all discomfort was gone. I must express gratitude for this quick healing and for feeling the immediate presence of God’s love.
