No room for pain
Three years ago, Christian Science healed me of an apparent urinary infection. Each of the two days I stayed home from work, I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. At one point when I was in great need, I called the practitioner, who firmly and tenderly said, “God is All-in-all.” I thought for a moment about the power and presence of God, good, which leave no room for evil or pain. Then she said, “Divine Love is loving you right now.” Those words sank deep into my thought.
The statements seem simple, yet the reality of God, Love, became so clear that I felt only God’s love for me and for everyone. The largeness of Love didn’t leave any room for fear of illness or of being vulnerable. I knew I was safe and sound.
The Bible says in so many places that we live in Love’s presence. Jeremiah 31:3 is one of them: “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
