Perfect vision restored
Jesus said, “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light” (Matthew 6:22). Wasn’t he teaching the importance of single-minded devotion to spiritual Truth? And he also said that we would know the truth, and the truth would make us free (see John 8:32).
This reminds me of a time about twenty years ago when I closed my marketing firm in order to go into the full-time healing practice of Christian Science. I was impelled by divine Love to do this—to pray for people. I was absolutely filled with a strong sense of Love—not love for a person, but Love as the universal, all-powerful force called God. And patients who sought me out were being healed by this Love.
During this time I began to experience a constant headache. I’d been wearing contact lenses for decades—since I was a teenager unfamiliar with Christian Science. I thought I might need a different prescription, so I went to an optometrist. He examined my eyes, chuckled, and said: “You have perfect, 20/20 vision. You don’t need contacts anymore!”
