Family safe from contagion
All around us, the world has been broadcasting messages of fear, contagion, dread, and disease. These images can seem quite scary and real. However, I have learned from studying Christian Science and seeing its powerful, tangible, healing results that I don’t have to accept images or impressions of fear, contagion, and disease. Christian Science teaches that man is spiritual, made in the image and likeness of God, Spirit, eternal good, and that we all live in God’s kingdom of harmony. There is no room for disease in a kingdom already filled with abundant health, joy, peace, harmony, and love.
These truths remind me of an experience I had last Christmas while visiting my husband’s family overseas. My husband and I had flown to the Netherlands for four weeks and were looking forward to having some quality time with my sister- and brother-in-law and my niece and nephew. However, when we arrived, my in-laws informed us that my four-year-old niece was sick with the flu, and that we should avoid being close to her to keep from getting sick, too.
Having experienced healings of illness and injury through the study and practice of Christian Science throughout my life, I knew the powerlessness of these images and predictions of illness, and I confidently assured my in-laws that we were not afraid and were excited to be there. Although my in-laws are not Christian Scientists, they are devout Christians who believe in the power of God and prayer, and we enjoy sharing spiritual ideas with each other. They were relieved and said it was refreshing to spend the holidays with people who turn to God in times of need.
