I began to love paying my bills

Sometimes there are no available human resources. And sometimes there is not enough money. In those cases, it can seem that getting more of what’s missing—money, for example—is the only solution. So, a prayer for God’s help might go something like, “Please, God, somehow get me more money.” But I have found a different approach to prayer through my study of the Bible and of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Here is what happened to me once when the need seemed to be for more money, but the solution was quite different.

I was sitting at the dining room table, looking at my family’s monthly bills spread out before me. Our checkbook balance was insufficient for the total. What was I going to do?

I had left a teaching job in order to be a stay-at-home mom for our toddler and new baby, and my husband lovingly supported the family with his income. Although we had already cut expenses to the barest of necessities, we weren’t certain of our ability to consistently pay our bills.
