How I prayed about my master’s thesis
Graduate school was both a challenging and a rewarding experience for me. Writing my thesis was particularly educational from the perspective of spiritual study and practice.
When I found out that I would have only four months to write my thesis, I felt anxious about the short time frame. Praying to understand that God, divine Mind, is the source of all right ideas, and that He was leading me, calmed my fears. Before picking a thesis topic, I searched the Christian Science periodicals for articles by others who had prayed about their thesis. The common approach, I discovered, was to reach out to God and listen to Him quietly, trusting that an idea for the topic would come.
In the Bible, Christ Jesus describes this process of listening as a way to pray: “When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly” (Matthew 6:6).
