Don’t worry—Christ is here
If you were told that Jesus was on his way to your house, would you still be worried about some problem in your life? Not likely! You would be confident that a solution was inevitable. Is it possible to have this kind of confidence in spiritual healing today, even though Jesus is no longer here?
Through my study of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, I have come to understand that the healing power demonstrated by Jesus did not depend on his physical presence. An all-loving, all-intelligent God would not introduce the phenomenon of spiritual healing just for a lucky few who happened to cross paths with Jesus during the few years of his ministry. Instead, as Christian Science explains, Christ, the spiritual idea of God, is always present in human consciousness, and it is this Christ presence that Jesus so fully exemplified and demonstrated in his healing work.
The healing work Jesus did over two thousand years ago speaks to the scientific fact of a loving God who creates and preserves His own creation, including you and me. Jesus clearly understood man’s true spiritual identity; he knew that every individual is an idea, or expression, of God, good, and this pure view of man resulted in healings of blindness, withered limbs, sin, even death. He proved that the light of the Christ presence dispels the shadows of fear, doubt, and sickness with a tender, spiritual comfort that is available to all. Our task is to emulate Jesus’ work by proving the reality of an all-loving God through healing, despite evidence of discord and disease that at times can seem overwhelming.
