No effects from a fall
It was Thanksgiving Day 2018, and in just a few hours we would be sitting down for our meal. There was still much to prepare as I rushed down the basement stairs, stumbled across some carpeting on the floor, and fell hard, with my hands saving me from doing a face-plant.
Stunned by the fall, I cried out, which brought my sister-in-law to the top of the stairs. At that moment, I realized I could either accept what had just happened, giving it power, or turn to God. I chose the latter because I’ve had so many proofs of God’s care and healing power in the past.
I told my sister-in-law I was all right but needed some quiet time to pray. A phrase from Hymn 267 in the Christian Science Hymnal came quickly to mind: “See baseless evil fall ….” The full verse reads,
