Freed from pain
In April 2003, a sharp pain gripped one of my legs, making it sometimes difficult to concentrate when I was driving. Questions and doubts assailed me. I wondered, Can Christian Science heal this? Do I need a name for this condition to heal it? Should I see a doctor?
Then I recalled other physical challenges that had been quickly healed solely through prayer in Christian Science: a damaged thumbnail, sprains, headaches, flu, restless legs syndrome, lactose intolerance, a bad cough. Encouraged, I once again chose to rely on this Christianly scientific system of divine healing. For several weeks I studied the Bible along with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy for a right understanding of God. I endeavored to faithfully apply the teachings of Christian Science. As a result, doubts and fears dwindled. By Memorial Day weekend (at the end of May in the United States), I was completely free of the leg pain.
During the two months of spiritual growth that resulted in healing, I remained active by constantly leaning on God to sustain me. I was able to drive from Ohio to Florida, roughly nine hundred miles, to look for a new home in Tallahassee. During my six-week stay, I spent many hours in prayer and study. Gradually, I experienced longer periods of freedom from the discomfort.
