Protected after boiling water accident
I decided to clear off a small patio behind our house because figs had dropped all over it and gotten squashed and sticky. Since there was no hose nearby, I filled a giant lobster pot with boiling water.
Wearing sandals, I carried the unwieldy pot of boiling water—very heavy at probably eight gallons—to the patio. As I hurriedly put it down, water sloshed over the side and onto my left foot, making a loud sizzle sound and sending a cloud of mist into the air.
I winced, but was quick to declare my heritage as a child of God, divine Spirit. I knew that the belief that man is material and vulnerable to physical harm must be untrue, since I had learned in Christian Science that man’s real being is spiritual, an idea in divine Mind, and therefore cannot be injured. The reports coming from the physical senses were not the true picture and couldn’t be trusted.
