From unbelief to feeling embraced by God’s love

Many decades ago, after graduating from high school, I looked disdainfully on anyone who believed in God. It seemed very clear to me that believers were either stupid or crazy! This was my mind-set for a period of more than ten years, but before that it was a different story.

As I was growing up, my family was very involved in a Christian church. My parents attended and my sister and I went to Sunday School every Sunday. From church choir to youth meetings, you name it and I was there. However, toward the end of my senior year in high school, things changed.

My father was asked to chair a committee to design a new church building. Dad poured his heart and soul into this project, so when I heard the church members’ negative and sometimes even mean-spirited reactions to his designs, my heart broke.
