Gratitude brings quick healing

It was early on a Saturday morning, and I awoke quite nauseous. Not wanting to disturb my husband and our dogs, I went into an adjoining room to pray quietly. As a student of Christian Science, I’ve had many healings resulting from my study of the Bible along with Mary Baker Eddy’s writings. These books illustrate that God is All and is supremely good, so I knew that any evidence of illness was just a lie about my true being, a lie having no validity, substance, or reality since God, good, did not create it. God created man (a term that includes each of us) wholly good.

We read in Psalms, “Thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness” (143:10). Mrs. Eddy’s primary work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, includes this statement: “The exterminator of error is the great truth that God, good, is the only Mind, and that the supposititious opposite of infinite Mind—called devil or evil—is not Mind, is not Truth, but error, without intelligence or reality” (p. 469).

Having proven the healing efficacy of these and other ideas from these books on many prior occasions, I naturally turned to God in prayer. After a few minutes, I opened an article in a recent issue of this magazine that I’d read several times that week and had recommended to others. I settled in to reread it, because its truths were expressed so clearly and beautifully.
