God’s mothering message: ‘He’s with Me’
God’s love is omniscient; God’s love is ever present; God’s love is omniactive. So God’s mothering love is an all-knowing power, ever active to defend, correct, nurture. And because God’s love is ever present, no one can ever stray from God. God is the omnipresent Parent and is never separate from His children.
These were some of the thoughts racing through my mind as I was driving up to the site of the educational program my teenage son was involved with to join the team searching for him.
At 4 a.m. I had gotten a phone call from the school saying that my son was missing and had last been seen 14 hours earlier wearing a hoodie and shorts and going out for a “quick” run. The temperature that night was near freezing, and the campus abuts thousands of acres of wilderness area. My husband was able to get there immediately, but I was a four-hour drive away on a business trip. I knew I would spend all that driving time in deep and earnest prayer.
