Healed by turning to God with expectation
When I was a university student years ago, I became ill right before final exams. I felt alone with no family nearby to pray for me.
My mother had passed on, and I had always depended on her prayers in times of need. For the first time in my life, I had a health decision to make on my own. My roommates were concerned and wanted me to go to a doctor, and I felt the pressure of needing to be well enough to take finals.
My mother’s devoted prayers, my spiritual education in the Christian Science Sunday School, and three generations of our family relying on God’s care had been the foundation of my approach to health care; health was seen as natural and normal. This foundation had proved sound and this view of health true for me my whole life. So I felt comfortable relying on Christian Science and expecting healing.
