The Mind we can rely on
During my school years, I had many opportunities to take academic tests. Though I always studied the material beforehand, I often felt apprehensive on testing day. To handle pre-test fears, I would pray and place my trust in God.
I took courage from the many Bible accounts I had read of people reaching out to God for answers to both small and large problems that seemed beyond human intellectual capacity to solve. Joseph, for example, was inspired to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams. He was quick to credit God for this ability, saying, “It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace” (Genesis 41:16). And Joseph’s forewarning of a coming famine enabled Egypt to avoid starvation by storing up food ahead of time.
Christian Science, which is based on the Bible, particularly the words and works of Christ Jesus, teaches that Mind is a synonym for God, and that the divine Mind is ever present and all-knowing. The Bible tells us that God made all very good (see Genesis 1:31); that means His children can’t be lacking in any way. As Mind’s spiritual ideas, each one of us is created to express His omniscience in intelligence, wisdom, and insight.
