Healed at a family reunion
It was our first full day into our family reunion weekend, and we had just begun our tournament of Cornhole, a game that involves throwing beanbags through the hole in a slanted board about thirty feet away. Even though I was a rookie player, I was thoroughly enjoying learning the strategies of the game.
But suddenly, in the midst of a game, I began to feel unwell and had a hard time concentrating. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to continue in the tournament or participate in other activities throughout the weekend. I played that game to the finish, and smiles and high-fives were exchanged as we stepped off the playing floor for the next teams to step up.
At this point, I excused myself and found a quiet place to pray alone. Being quiet and still enabled me to see clearly that the feeling of sickness, though being experienced as a reality, was simply a false suggestion—a belief that I could be outside of God’s care. I immediately reversed the suggestion by affirming divine Love’s all-presence. I understood that the family reunion could be governed only by Love—that every individual there was actually the reflection of Love and was governed harmoniously by the same Principle. I reasoned that the suggestion of illness could not trick me into believing anything could be present other than peace, harmony, love, joy, and ease. Nor could illness have any power to take away my freedom and this joyful time with my family.
