Healing of a boil
In 2014, I felt some itching on one of my toes. At first, I took it casually and ignored it. Soon, though, I noticed some inflammation. Since I rely on God for all my healings, I turned to God in prayer to seek guidance. I prayed to know that matter has no sensation and that I could not suffer from any type of inflammation because I am created spiritually.
I kept praying regarding this throughout the day, but the next morning I woke up with pain. I saw that there was a boil on one toe, and the foot was swollen. I was very fearful, as it reminded me of boils my oldest son had had a few years back. They had been healed, but I was still afraid, and decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful help. She lovingly agreed to pray with me.
I told the practitioner about my fears, and she told me that I am made in the image and likeness of God and the reflection of God cannot be fearful. She also gave me this truth from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “We weep because others weep, we yawn because they yawn, and we have smallpox because others have it; but mortal mind, not matter, contains and carries the infection” (p. 153). I knew that healing takes place in thought. She also mentioned that it would be good to be grateful rather than fearful, as my son had been healed through Christian Science treatment, and there had been no recurrence.
