Pain arrested and foot healed
Some months ago I felt a pain in my left foot, as though there were a sharp object in my shoe. But when I removed my shoe, there was nothing inside. The pain continued whether the shoe was on or off. It appeared to be a complaint in the foot.
I proceeded to pray. The idea that came immediately to thought is from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Under the marginal heading “Scientific obstetrics” it reads, “A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive” (p. 463). I held to the fact that I am a spiritual idea, the expression of God, so the belief that something could cause me pain was erroneous. The pain subsided somewhat, and I put on my shoe again. I was able to walk comfortably for my normal activity during the day.
The situation went on for a period of several weeks, during which I continued to pray. When I took off my shoes in the evenings, the pain returned. I continued to pray with the same truth, knowing that pain has no truth and cannot recur.
