Symptoms of a cold vanish

I had woken up in the early hours of the morning with a little sneeze. As I blew my nose, my thought started to wander toward a possible cause. Perhaps this sneezing was the result of that person who had been sniffling, sneezing, and coughing in my car pool. Or perhaps it was the change in the weather, bringing a sudden drop in temperature, or some other unknown reason.

Then I realized that trying to find a cause for this was not going to help me pray for healing, but would instead get me to believe there was a justification for the symptoms to hang around. Immediately, I remembered that there is just one Mind, God, and that I am an idea of Mind. Nothing can invade Mind, because only God, good, is real. And because God is All, there is no room for anything else.

These ideas came from my study and practice of Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, explains divine Mind thoroughly in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (see pp. 469–471). From this explanation I knew that cold air blowing on me didn’t have any power to push me out of God’s kingdom or to change me from a spiritual idea to a material mortal. I was so absorbed in these spiritual ideas from God that I completely forgot about trying to identify a cause for the cold symptoms. I started to feel better and went back to sleep.
