Children of Light
In the beginning, there was Light! All dark thoughts must take their flight.
Soul, unhindered, shines its rays, piercing through our darkest days;
then appears with certain dawn the brightness of the risen Son—
rise then, as children of Light!
Through dismal day and hopeless night, Christ ever shines this holy light
dawning in our thought again, conquering sin’s deceitful reign.
Love’s the radiant power that heals; Truth’s sunshine it now reveals—
shine then, as children of Light!
Humbly we receive new sight, as we wake to Spirit’s might.
All sad dreams must fade away in Soul’s fresh, unclouded day.
Death itself will disappear as Christ, Truth, gives us vision clear
to see then, as children of Light!
Our God is Love, the All-in-all, the Light, in which no shadows fall.
Matter’s mournful claims are gone; leaving them, we journey on,
following God’s Word aright; uneclipsed, renewed, upright—
walk then, as children of Light!
