God’s way wins the right of way
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you felt you were placed squarely between a rock and a hard place? And from which you felt there was no escape? At times like this, one can feel frightened and overwhelmed. Yet the Bible assures us that there is always an answer. It reminds us often that God tenderly cares for His creation and that He is always with us no matter what. One beautiful example is found in the book of Isaiah: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (41:10).
Several years ago, I found myself wedged in what seemed like a very hard place with no way out. A substantial amount of money was owed by my ex-husband and me, and neither of us had the resources at hand to satisfy the debt. And for some reason, no attempt was being made to collect any money from him. Even though this was a joint liability, I was being asked to pay everything that was owed. This was frightening and seemed very unfair.
It appeared that I had no options. There was the threat of having my business and personal assets taken if I could not pay the outstanding debt. That would have resulted in my inability to earn my living as an artist and a picture framer. I could not see how that would be an effective answer to this problem. If the tools of my trade and my paintings were confiscated, how was I to earn the money to satisfy my obligation?
