When a spouse leaves, God doesn’t
Ever since I was a child, I’ve known God as a very real presence. In fact, once, when I was in elementary school and was asked which friends I had walked home from school with that day, I happily replied, “I walked home with my best friend—God!”
It was this closeness to God and assurance of His love that enabled me, throughout my childhood and into adulthood, to turn to Him in prayer and find healing.
But then one day, my husband of over twenty years told me he didn’t love me anymore and was leaving me. I was shocked and devastated. And for the first time ever, I felt that God had abandoned me and that all the love had been completely drained from my life.
