Channels of thought
Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear.
—Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 506
Refuse to map out mortal mind.
It has no past or other time.
It is not now, and has no way
To interfere with any day.
Passages of mortal mind,
As much to do with flesh as time,
Sentence time’s rigidity
To mortal measurability.
You’re also tempted by the flesh
To measure feelings and distress.
And as the mortal rules apply,
Measuring confirms the lie.
So how do you exclude the rules
Of mortal stress and painful views?
Map your thinking spiritually,
Not following mortality.
Your spirituality’s intact.
No mortal claim can take you back.
Consistent prayers are power Love gives.
Your gratitude confirms all this.
So let your thought be filled with peace
In channels offering Love’s release,
Which presciently directs your way
To radiant Life—your only day.*
