Question answered, healing found

I was raised in a Protestant family, where I was taught about God and His love for us. As a child, I loved reading the gospel stories describing Christ Jesus’ healing ministry and how he turned to his Father, God, for guidance in everything that he did.

As a teenager I started to have questions about God, Jesus, and the Bible. One persistent question I had was “Where did evil come from?” If God was all-loving and all-powerful, as I learned as a child, then how did evil—such as sin, sickness, and death—appear? Despite my inquiries of family members, people at my church, and my pastor, I did not get a response that satisfied me.

Throughout my young adult years, I suffered from chronic debilitating migraines that would hinder my daily activities. Every morning I would wake up with a feeling of fear because of this condition. Doctors prescribed medication, but it did little to ease the pain. I discussed my situation with a respected friend, who suggested that maybe it was just God’s will for me to have migraines and that I should try to find a positive side of the situation.
