Inspiration from testimony meeting brings healing
Recently I was listening to The Mother Church’s live online testimony meeting, and as always I was very grateful for the inspiring readings and testimonies.
Sometime later I felt some discomfort in one area of my mouth, and by the time I went to bed the pain was so intense that it prevented me from going to sleep. I decided to firmly reject the suggestion that pain could be part of me. As Mary Baker Eddy teaches us in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “… hold your ground with the unshaken understanding of Truth and Love, and you will win” (p. 417).
I chose to listen again to the broadcast of the testimony meeting, and received great comfort from the wonderful testimonies shared. One testifier quoted this statement from Science and Health: “Mentally contradict every complaint from the body, and rise to the true consciousness of Life as Love,—as all that is pure, and bearing the fruits of Spirit” (p. 391). This was helpful to me as I affirmed that there is no pain in God, Love; that I am right now God’s beloved spiritual child and therefore can truly experience only harmony, health, and peace, which are the fruits of Spirit. As I was soaking up the truths that were shared, I found that I was able to peacefully go to sleep.
