I found Christian Science more than four years ago. “Eureka!” is what I immediately uttered after I started to read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, Founder of the Church of Christ, Scientist. The sense of fulfillment I got from the teachings of this Science has never left me. 

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened” (Matthew 7:7, 8). The promise contained in these words of Scripture was fulfilled in my long journey to Christian Science. 

I’ve always believed in God and in the possibility of being healed through prayer. And I’ve witnessed the benefits from my trust in God. But at one point, my life became miserable in several ways, and I resolved to ask God, in a better way than I had before, to show me the true path that would allow me to get closer to Him. After more than three weeks of fervent prayer, literally on my knees for periods of time, the response came. And this response was Christian Science. 

In seven days I finished reading Science and Health, which I had just acquired through an acquaintance. I had never heard of Christian Science before that. When I again met the person who had helped me get the book, I was obviously full of enthusiasm. He told me he expected to find me in that state of enthusiasm, seeing how very eager I was to know God. 

After reading the book, I immediately applied to become a member of the local Christian Science Society, and a year later I became a member of The Mother Church. I was happy and grateful to be admitted so soon and to be able to bring my modest contributions to the activities of the various committees of the local Society. I continue to be active in the church today. And I am most grateful that I was able to have Christian Science Primary class instruction recently. My inclusion in this class was a true demonstration of God’s love for His child. 

As soon as I found Christian Science, from the very beginning, I experienced many healings. I was overjoyed to see the fear of being assaulted by malicious people disappear; also the phobia of being in a crowd, and the tendency to get discouraged or confused. A Christian Science practitioner and other devoted Christian Scientists helped me, with love and patience, to overcome doubt and discouragement. 

Through their help and my personal study, I’ve understood that God is eternally perfect and His perfection never changes and is unshakable. I reflect perfection in all that I am and all that I do, because I am God’s image and likeness.

I’ve been relying ever since on this confidence and understanding of God to heal health troubles. For example, I’ve been healed of malaria, of bouts of fever, and of an upset stomach. 

Finding Christian Science has offered me new and happy perspectives on life. I give thanks to God and Christ Jesus for this, and express my deepest gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I’m also filled with joy to know that the Church of Christ, Scientist, for over one hundred years, has kept lit the light of Life, Truth, and Love in the world—a light that will never go out.
