Clear evidence of God’s constant protection
I was on a back road in northern Florida in my small motor home. I had stopped on a two-lane road to wait for traffic to clear so I could make a turn. When I glanced into my rearview mirror to check the traffic behind me, I spotted a loaded logging truck in the distance bearing down on me at a very high speed.
I had started the day, as I always do, with morning prayer. Among other things, this prayer included asking God to show me the way to have a highly productive day. As the book of Proverbs tells us: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (3:5, 6). Throughout the day, I remained confident of God’s care.
As I looked into the rearview mirror again, I could see that the truck was just several hundred yards behind my motor home, barreling down the highway at breakneck speed. There wasn’t time to do much additional praying. I simply thanked my Father-Mother God for His/Her help. Because of my early morning “conversation” with God, I was not frightened. Instead of stiffening up, I tried to remain calm, relaxed, flexible—totally trusting in God’s nonstop protection.
