Upright and free after severe fall
I am a lifelong Christian Scientist, and this religion has blessed our family in so many ways, from childhood through adulthood and into grandparenthood.
Several months ago, I was having a peaceful morning of study and prayer about an issue that was much in the news. I had been working with a statement in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul” (p. 269). I felt I was making progress in listening more clearly to what God was knowing and communicating to me, His child, as opposed to what I was hearing in the media.
When my daughter called to ask for some cleaning advice, I jumped up to search for a product that would help her, and in my haste I tripped on a wet umbrella I had left in the hallway. I went down hard on both knees, hitting my head against the corner of a wall. Both knees were scraped and bleeding, and I had a painful cut on the side of my face. Standing up was difficult, and it was also hard to open my mouth.
