Healed of jaw pain

It was July 2014, and since the beginning of that year, I had been having difficulty with recurring pains in my jaw. Drinking and eating cold items was difficult, and so was talking. I felt thoroughly miserable. I had initially put up with the pain, thinking it would leave as quickly as it had come on. That strategy wasn’t working, and I dreaded the pain’s recurrence. In the months leading up to this, I’d tried to study the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson and keep my thoughts on the right track for healing.

I’d made arrangements to attend a Christian Science lecture in Glasgow, which would be held at a museum. The pain had been niggling at me the whole day and work had been very busy, which meant that I was running late to the lecture. I ended up trying to cross the city to the motorway in pouring rain and rush-hour traffic. I prayed the whole way, wanting to be in my rightful place. I worked with the Lord’s Prayer, especially the line “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13), knowing that I could not be tempted to feel I was doing a wrong thing by going to the lecture. I also thought of “radiant room,” praying with a line from one of Mary Baker Eddy’s poems, which says:
