No more earaches
The best way I can think of to give thanks for the Science of Christ is to testify to the effectiveness of Christian Science in my own life.
Years ago, when my two older children were small, each of them, at separate times, had an earache. The distress and pain they seemed to be in distressed me very much, and both times I turned to what I had seen throughout my life to be effective: Christian Science. I prayed, holding to the fact of God’s love for His children. I affirmed that pain was not really a part of either child’s identity, since each child of our Father-Mother God, each one of us, is God’s own expression of His, Her, infinite, divine individuality. I held to what I had learned in Christian Science about God and man, that pain and infection are no part of God or His creation and that therefore we have a God-given right to health.
In each case, I prayed in this way for half an hour or so, and then the child became calm and free of pain. Neither of these children ever had an earache again. One thing about these healings that stayed with me was that despite feeling fearful, I persisted in prayer, and healing took place. This gave me confidence that true health is not dependent on a personal state of mind, and that healing comes through prayer as proof of the dependable effect of Christ, Truth, imparting the understanding we need and destroying the error.
