Finger infection healed
Some time ago, while walking in the woods, I ran out of path and found myself in underbrush. As I carefully pushed brush back to clear my way, I caught a small thorn in my finger. I gave it no thought and decided it was time to head home.
I washed my hands, prayed briefly about it, and dismissed the thought of any accident. Several days later I noticed when I happened to put pressure on my finger that it was swollen and discolored. I prayed more earnestly to know my real purity and affirm that I am the innocent child of God. I reasoned that there could be nothing in the beauty and harmony of God’s creation that could intrude upon my true, spiritual nature.
The discomfort abated, and I forgot about the finger. Another few days went by, and I again noticed that the finger was swollen and discolored. I had just read of the remarkable healing of Joseph Mann, who had been shot in the heart (see We Knew Mary Baker Eddy, Expanded Edition, Volume II, pp. 160–161). I thought if he could be healed of a gunshot wound, I could surely be healed of a thorn in the finger.
