Illness healed on a camping trip
Several years ago my husband and I went on a camping trip to a lovely lake. We had been looking forward to visiting this area for some time and were so grateful to be enjoying the pristine beauty of the area.
A few days into our trip I became quite ill. There were unpleasant symptoms, including a lot of internal pain. One night I was awake a great deal and struggled to pray. My dear husband worked courageously, praying with me. In the morning we were able to drive to a spot not too far from where we were camped where I could get cellphone service, as I wanted and needed to call a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me.
As we talked, it was wonderful to hear the very reassuring words that I could never be separated from God’s comforting presence and power, no matter where I was. The Bible states in Acts 17:28, “For in him [God] we live, and move, and have our being.” I saw that this was my true home, which I could never leave, and where I live in perfect peace—without any pain or disease. The practitioner said that I could see this experience as an opportunity to bear witness to these spiritual truths, which reveal God’s goodness.
