Unfallen—forever
Recently I watched a young girl climbing over some large bumpy rocks. The adult who was with her called out instructions that were designed to keep her from falling. At times his voice was a bit frantic, as if fearful for her safety.
A fear of falling has different scenarios, but the subtler claims include all of the symbolic versions of man’s fall—falling from grace, falling into ill health, falling on hard times, and so on.
But according to the Bible, there is one “that is able to keep you from falling.” And this one is “the only wise God our Saviour” (Jude 1:24, 25). What a comfort it is to hear one of the many biblical promises assuring us of God’s ongoing, eternal care, keeping us upright and unfallen. Thank goodness we don’t have to buy into the common fear of experiencing some kind of fall.
