Pain quickly healed, no aftereffects of accident
One sunny afternoon this past spring, while spending time with some family friends, I was playing with a child, riding on one of her scooters. All of a sudden the front wheel of the scooter caught a crack in the pavement and I went flying.
My first thought as the ground was approaching was a spiritual truth: that I was safe, right then, because nothing could ever take me out of the kingdom of heaven. The child’s mother and grandmother, who are both students of Christian Science, quickly came over. They acknowledged out loud that my true, spiritual nature can never be touched by matter—that’s what is true about me, not what the material senses claim. Their steadfast declarations of truth comforted me.
Because of the impact, I was concerned that I might have broken my nose or some teeth. My face hurt a lot. The child’s grandmother, who is a Christian Science practitioner and teacher, looked me in the eye and said, “You are perfect; there’s not a spot on you.” I felt grateful that she was seeing my perfection as God’s child, but asked, “How bad is it?” She again replied that there was nothing to see. Her daughter confirmed it, and the child made no mention of anything on my face.
